Thank you for responding. I do have most of these facts and copies of the actual 1850 and 1860 censuses. I'm just looking for evidence of a connection to Bolton or Hebron, CT, preferably a deed or probate or evidence of a relationship to the other Wilcox's who were living in Bolton or Hebron around that time. I suppose it's possible, too, that the land he sold in Bolton or Hebron was owned by a family member with a name other than Wilcox. I have a copy of a deed from 1849 where Gardner Wilcox bought land from Jeffrey Olin in Preston that his father Benjamin Olin had owned before he died. I have never seen a reference to any town outside of New London County for Gardner, except that he was born somewhere in New York State. So it surprised me to find this information in the Olin book: "[Jeffrey Olin and Betsey Wilcox, his wife, daughter of Abram Wilcox] left Groton and moved to Bolton, Tolland County, Connecticut, where he purchased a standing blacksmith shop from Gardner Wilcox for $260 on March 10, 1854." Both Jeffrey and Gardner were blacksmiths. Gardner N. Wilcox's father's name was also Gardner Wilcox. He was in Griswold in 1820 and 1822, but doesn't appear in any other census.
