Greetings, I just purchased a 18th or early 19th C American silver snuffbox engraved on the cover : "Nathan Hakes From A.A. Ball". The auction was held at Dunkirk NY and the piece was in the estate of a prominent, and wealthy, local citizen. I don't know which Nathan Hakes this box was owned by; there is one from Petersburg NY 1791-1877 but I believe it dates from an earlier time most probably the Stonington Ct 1761-1847 era. Anyway, if you are interested I have digital photos I can forward. Also would appreciate any info about the A.A. Ball connection if known. Thanks.

Lou Starr
