I am interested in the Culver family of New Jersey, by way of New London, Connecticut. I am researching Jonas Culver b. Hunterdon Co., NJ, abt 1733, son of John Culver and Freelove Lamb, brother of Rev. Jabez Culver who moved to Upper Canada ca. 1793/94. Jonas was the grandson of John Culver who was largely involved in the religious sect, the Rogerenes. Jonas is described in his father, John's, Will as "expected child". His mother, Freelove Lamb, probably remarried to William Crouch of Groton, in 1737. In 1749, Jonas chose his uncle, John Waterhouse of Groton, as his guardian.
Jonas Culver was a Loyalist who came to Nova Scotia (now New Brunswick), Canada, in the Fall Fleet of 1783 with his family. I have a fair bit of information about his descendants, however, am trying to piece together his life prior to his exodus to Canada. His wife's name was Bathsheba Unknown. Children were: Jonas Jr. (m. Charlotte Unknown), Asenath (m. John Ross), Bathsheba (m. John Turner), Sarah (m. Thomas Brannen) and Esther (m. John Whiteknackt).
Any assistance at all would be very much appreciated.
