The New Haven Green was the main burial site for the residents of New Haven until 1821. Many of the tombstones were moved to Grove street Cemetery (www.Grovestreetcemetery.org) but the deceased remain under the green. Grove Street Cemetery did not exist until the 1790's. Then there is Center Church which built their church on the Green and a portion of the cemetery in 1813, not to disturb the dead, they kept the tombstones in place and built the church around it, now refered to as; "The Crypt". The headstones date from 1687 to 1812 (still not early enough for your Anne Higginson).

My guess is that she is buried on the Green. Grove Street has an index of burials online, but I don't know if they include the ones that were transferred. It is an active tourist attraction and I am sure you can email them and inquire.
