I am seeking assistance for a non-profit project in Kansas City, Missouri. I am researching the histories of the major memorial gifts, including the 18 stained glass windows, in the Nave of the Cathedral Church of the Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri, Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral.
Our oldest stained glass window, dedicated on Christmas Day, 1901, is a memorial to John Alexander Ross (1850-1901), a direct descendant of George Ross (1730-1779), who signed the Declaration of Independence as a representative of the colony of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Ross' mother, Catharine Wheeler Gabaudan Ross, died in New Haven on December 11, 1867. She was only 38 years old at the time of her death.
I am seeking the cause of her death, and I hope that someone in New Haven will be willing to visit the New Haven Library. I need that person to view the microfilm for the New Haven Palladium newspaper, to see if the cause of death is listed in the death notice for Mrs. Ross. (She may be listed as "Kate Ross" or "Kate Gabaudan Ross".)
There are no monies in the budget of the Cathedral for this project, and hence, I am unable to utilize the New Haven Library's system, as their fee is too high. (I myself am unemployed.)
I am hoping that some kind soul will be willing to check this for me. I don't require a photocopy of the death notice, I only need to know the cause of death if it is listed in the newspaper.
Please feel free to contact me directly at RandalJLoy@gmail.com.
Thank you so very much for your assistance.
