It looks like Andrew shortened BENGTSON to BENSON (see obit below). I was hoping that his obituary would name the town in Sweden but it doesn't. Other BENGTSON obituaries that I ran across show "Halland", Sweden as point of origin.
The birth years of this Andrew Benson and wife Ida Carlson match what you have, 1864 and 1872 respectively, and, as can be seen in the obituaries of Hulda and Frederick Benson, their first two children were born in CROMWELL, CT in 1893 and 1894. Andrew Benson, 71, for 39 years a resident of Wethersfield, died suddenly Thursday at his home, 65 Church Street, Wethersfield. He leaves his wife, Ida (Carlson) Benson; two sons, Frederick B. Benson of Hartford and Clarence W. Benson of Jackson, Mich.; two daughters. Miss Hulda M. Benson of Wethersfield and Mrs Mabel B. O'Donnell of Wethersfield; a brother in Illinois and eight grandchildren. The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home of Taylor and Modeen, 233 Washington Street. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield, where Rev. Julius Hulteen, pastor of the Swedish Emanuel Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Mrs. Ida Carlson Benson, widow of Andrew Benson, died at her home, 65 Church St., Wethersfield, Saturday morning. She was born Sept. 1, 1872 in Sweden and had lived in Wethersfield for 60 years. She leaves a son, *George W. Benson of Wethersfield; a daughter, MIss Hulda Benson of Wethersfield; a brother, Capt. Fred Nelson, a retired Merchant Marine officer, of Portland Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Thure Nestor of West Hartford, and Mrs. Charles Peterson of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at the Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home, 233 Washington St., at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfiled. Friends may call at the funeral home today and Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
*note: Should be son Clarence W. Benson not "George". His 1971 obituary shows he returned from Jackson, Michigan to Wethersfield, CT.
