Lucy Magnano, 98, of Middletown, Conn., died Feb. 5, 2005, at Middlesex Hospital.

Mrs. Magnano was born Feb. 6, 1906, in Middletown, daughter of the late Paolo and Filomena (LaRosa) DiModica. She had resided at 1 McDonough Place since 1999 and had previously resided on Westfield Street.

She was the widow of Salvatore Magnano.

Mrs. Magnano enjoyed playing card games with friends at 1 McDonough Place and trips to Mohegan Sun casino.

She was a member of St. Sebastian Church in Middletown and an honorary member of St. John’s Church Guild.

Mrs. Magnano was predeceased by two sons, Paul and Joseph; two sisters, Lena and Josie; and a brother, Salvatore.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Morse of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Salvatore Magnano of Hollis and Freedom; her granddaughter and caregiver, Donna Monnes of Cromwell, Conn.; eight other grandchildren in New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas and Oregon; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 9 at St. Sebastian Church. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Portland.

Donations may be made to the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit, c/o Dept. of Philanthropy, 55 Crescent St. or One McDonough, Middletown, CT 06457.

The D’Angelo Funeral Home in Middletown, Conn., is in charge of arrangements.
