I am looking for the family of Henry Chapman who married Mary J. Waters March 13, 1879 in South Windsor, Hartford Co. Conn. He is listed on the birth of one of his children as having been born in Portland, Middlesex County, Conn., yet I cannot find him in the 1850 census. At the time of his marriage he was about 30 years old which would have put him being born about 1849/1850.
The only Henry I can find in the Portland area is Henry Chapman age 12 living with the Daniel Strickland family in the 1860 census. He is still with him in the 1870 census and is now age 21. In 1880 he is no longer with the Stickland family, but I find a Henry Chapman age 30 getting married in Hartford county Conn. Does anyone have information on this Henry Chapman?
