Seeking information about the ancestors, family, and descendants of John ANDREWS, who had migrated from CT to Smithfield Twp., Chenango Co. NY by ca. 1797, where he d. in 1823.
John ANDREWS named his children in his will dated 12 Jun 1812 in Smithville Twp., Chenango Co., NY and was probated there in 1822. The exact sequence of their births is unknown, since he first named his sons [Stephen, John, Samuel, James, and William] and then named his daughters [Abigail, Content, Sarah, and Rachel].

John ANDREWS was probably married twice [names of both wives unknown]. Stephen is believed to have been by his first wife, and all of the other children listed above by his second wife.

This John ANDREWS does not appear to be the John ANDREWS who m. Lucy CONE on 26 Sep 1781, since that latter d. 24 Oct 1809 in East Haddam, Middlesex, CT.

Daughters Abigail and Sarah married brothers William BURGET, Sr. and Milbury BURGET, respectively, in either Delaware Co. or Chenango Co., NY. Both families migrated from Chenango Co., NY to Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., NY ca. 1815-1819.

Their brother, Samuel ANDREWS [b. 4 Jan 1787, NY; d. 18 Mar 1850, Cherry Valley Twp., Ashtabula Co., OH]also migrated with his family from NY to OH ca. 1821.

Samuel ANDREWS apparently m1)Sarah CARPENTER, m2)Polly SPRAGUE, m3)Huldah CRANDALL, and m4) Rebecca MAPES.

William ANDREWS [b. 17 Sep 1823, Cherry Valley Twp., Ashtabula Co., OH; d. 13 Feb 1911, Narka, Republic Co., KS] was a child of Samuel ANDREWS and Huldah CRANDALL.
