Hello,
This profile is under the Real Daughter, Miss Juliette Betts. She was the d/o Hezekiah Betts and Grace Hanford.
Grace was the d/o Hezekiah Hanford, who served in the Coast Guards during the Revolution in the company of Capt. Eliphalet Lockwood. They lived in Norwalk, CT.
It says,
"Her oldest brother was taken prisoner when Norwalk was burned in 1779, and detained six weeks on Long Island. On the day that Tryon burned Norwalk (July 11, 1779), Hezekiah Hanford was in the field ploughing with a yoke of oxen. He succeeded in driving his oxen to a place of safety in the woods on Blue Mountain. His daughter, Grace Hanford, was a girl of fourteen and went with neighbors to the woods near "the Rocks" for safety, and from here the people of Norwalk watched the flames destroying their homes."
It does not state what her brother's name was. I checked the DAR Patriot Index and Hezekiah Hanford, died May 2, 1812. You might want to see if there are any estate papers in Norwalk, Fairfield Co. CT for him. It might tell you if your Hezekiah was his son. Many of these papers list where the heirs were living, so you could see if there is one living in NH with that name. Also, if you are in DAR, you can send for application through his line. If you aren't, someone in DAR can send for the papers for you. I believe the cost is now $10.
Good luck,
Linda Garrett
