Hi Bill!
Thank you very, very much for your help on this! I will definitely check into the vital records of CT--
Russell and Sybil Humiston end up in Orange, Cuyahoga, Oh by 1850 (if not sooner) with a farm. Orange is about 10 miles SW of Chester. They are buried in a little tiny cemetery there in a very picturesque area.. with the name "Hogsback Hill'.
My gut says that Linus was Sybil's father and perhaps the death record was mistaken. It's not as though Sybil were speaking for herself at that point. ;)
