In 1910 it was not necessary to leave the State of Connecticut for a "quickie marriage", it wasn't until about 1927 when a 5 day wait law was enacted.

In 1913 Massachusetts imposed the 5 day wait law, elopers poured over the border to CT.

After 1927 elopers in southwestern CT poured over the border to the "marriage mill" in Harrison, NY.
