In the 1800 census there IS a Thaddeus Hurd in Roxbury, Litchfield Co., CT and in the 1820 census there is a Thadeus Hurd in Sandgate, Bennington Co., VT.

Found Clark W. Hurd's 1894 obit, confirms the bio information in the book and adds that his "granduncle" Lewis Hurd was in the Rev. War. The pension file of Lewis Hurd shows he enlisted in 1777 in CT and as of 1832 he was resident of Sandgate, VT. Census shows a Lewis Hurd in Sandgate, VT starting in the 1790 census.
