Captain John Barker born 1790 CT

Looking for info on Capt. John Barker, my gggggrandfather, born appx.1790 in Ct. His son was Gilbert H. born 1820 in NY, grandson also Gilbert H. born 1841 also NY. John died May 3, 1868, probably in Brooklyn, NY. I'm not sure what he was captain of, but both of his sons were river pilots so perhaps he was, too. His wife may have been Euphemia born in NY. Gilbert H.(1820) was married to Martha J. Lindsay. Her mother was born in Ct. and her father supposedly in Virginia. Their names are unknown. I'd appreciate any info on John.
