Pat--Thanks SO MUCH for all that info!!!Now we know what happened to James.Re the Graces in old ST. M's cemetery, Peter Grace was the father of the 7 sons who emigrated from County Kildare to New Brtian in 1860/61.Michael was the oldest son--it was his wife Sarah and daughter Helene whose records you found. The next time you are in the cemetery, notice the very large memorial (brown sandstone--it's across the lane from the very large tree near the top of the hill)to her that Michael erected. If you can, read the inscription, in cursive script, on the base of the south side. It's a poem written by Michael.I couldn't make out some of the words in the middle of the 2nd and 3rd lines when I visited the cemetery this October.
FYI, Peter's grandson Thomas W. Grace was police captain in NB from 1911-1922 when he died suddenly of a heart attack on his way to work.If I recall correctly, one of the pallbearers was a Pelkey!!I will try to find my copy of the Herald obit and confirm that.Ed Daniel
