235. George b. April 22, 1825, in Leyden, Mass.; died young. James Mowry was the youngest son of John Mowry, who died of apoplexy, when James was sixteen years of age. <excerpt> About the time he was of age, he was married to Lydia Webster, and took up his residence in the southern part of Guilford, Vt. Here he bought a house, built a tannery and shoemaker's shop, and worked at his trade for ten or fifteen years. <excerpt> From about 1818 he was a farmer, residing first in Leyden, Mass., and afterwards in Guilford, Vt. <excerpt> He died at the home of his son-in-law, Horace W. Linde, and interred in the public ground, in Guilford, Vt., where a stone is erected to his memory. [There is a fac-simile of his handwriting 'from your old father James Mowry']
Seeking to prove father of Lydia WEBSTER MOWRY was Stephen WEBSTER of Rehoboth, MA [Massachusetts], and to Pomfret, CT [Connecticut]. James MOWRY was born in Rhode Island.
