The goal is to collect 20 or more DNA samples from people with these surnames and display the results so that we can determine the origin of the various lines. Another goal is to verify genealogical connections, since there were possibly adoptions and there was poor record keeping. The founder of the American FARGO line is said to be Jacent FARGEAU, b. about 1622 in France. DNA testing can lend support to this theory, or refute it. This family were early residents of New London, CT, and is famous for producing one of the founders of Wells-Fargo company.
