Hello Everyone, I was filling in some blanks on my collateral Brinsmade line. I was searching the Internet for a paper, "The Priest, the Judge and the General" - The Brinsmade Family - by Mary Brinsmade, 1917. Washington, CT Women's Club. I found a New York Passenger list with the name of Mary Brinsmade, daughter of John Chapin and Mary Gold Gunn Brinsmade. Also listed on the same passenger list was the name of Ada Brinsmade, born 4 NOV 1864 in Westerfield, CT and her residence in SEP 1924 was Washington, CT. Ada Brinsmade is listed in the 1910 Federal Census Washington, CT living with her daughter Dorothy age 17 born about 1893 in Connecticut. Well, after a little more searching I've been able to connect Ada to her husband William Gold Brinsmade b. 21 Jan 1858, Springfield, Hampden, MA and d. 08 Dec 1908, Washington, Litchfield, Connecticut. Do you know Ada's maiden name? Also on the same passenger list was the name of Margery Brinsmade born Holgate, Ohio 18 NOV 1886 and her residence in SEP 1924 was Stetson Court, Williamstown, Mass. After some searching it looks like she is the wife of James B. Brinsmade b.12 MAY 1884, in Everett, Bedford, PA. They married about 1912. Looking further I've found a passenger list from 1896. Listed are Henry N. Brinsmade age 39 (b.1857, Brooklyn, NY) engineer, Frances age 39 (b. 02 FEB 1857, City of New York), James B. age 12 (b.12 MAY 1884, in Everett, Bedford, PA), and Paul S. age 7 (b. 13 MAR 1889, New York). Henry N. Brinsmade is the son of James Brinsmade (b. 1 MAY 1824, New York) and his wife Jennie (b. 1834, New York). Federal census show that James and Jennie had 5 other children besides Henry. They are: 2. Mary Brinsmade b. 1859 New York 3. William Burrett Brinsmade b. 1865 New York 4. Eleanor Brinsmade b. 187 New York 5. Alice Brinsmade b. 1869 New York **Note: I found her passport application and there was a photo of her! 1910 census shows her living with her brother William who was a physician/surgeon 6. Charles L. Brinsmade b. 1871 New York Mary, Ada and Margery Brinsmade were traveling together. I'd like to know their common family connection. If you have any connections to this family I'd like to hear from you. The connection it seems would be with James B. Brinsmade (1824) whose father was born in Connecticut.
