Mercy CARPENTER & Richard ELLIS Jr.

Can anyone help clear up some Carpenter problems. The Barbour Vital Records show that Richard ELLIS Jr. of Stonington Connecticut married Mercy CARPENTER of Coventry, R. I. on April 21, 1748. The minister was Rev. Salmon Treat.

The only Mercy CARPENTERS that I have been able to turn up were one from Coventry, born around 1739, which is a bit too young, I hope, and one born 24 March 1724 but in East Greenwich, R. I. Physically, the two towns are only 12 miles apart, so this Mercy could be a good fit, but I can find no other information on who she married. Her father was Christopher Carpenter, her mother Mercy TAYLOR.

Thanks,
Betsy
