The town of Unionville is located near Farmington CT, not Manchester. The Gilbert School is in the town of Litchfield, part of Litchfield County. I may be wrong, but I believe Unionville and Famington are in Litchfield County, not Hartford County. My grandmother was also placed in the Gilbert School when she was a child.
That being said, there is a section of Manchester (where I live)that used to be called Union Village. There was a mill in that area at one time.
