Thanks.
I already have the marriage license. It's no help at all. It's got two names for the groom and two names for the bride.I know all the female names for the women are wrong on the license because they don't have Lithuanian endings.
The name for my Grandmother is wrong too.'Besi' is not a Lithuanian name. It's not her name anyway.
The license doesn't say what church they were married in.
I know they both were buried out of St. Patrick's and so was their infant daughter. But, they weren't members of St. Patrick's.
I am beginning to get a real strong sense that there's a bigger story here than I was ever told.
I was kept away from my Grandparents even though they lived only 5 miles from me.I know I never went to the church or to the cemetery after the funerals of my Grandparents -- even though I was old enough (13/14).I only went to their a very few times.
I've seen people in Springfield, MA with the same last name that were Jewish.
If the woman that I found on Ellis Island website turns out to be my Grandmother -- she's Hebrew.
That would explain why I was never allowed to see them -- family bias/rascism.
Questions:
- Would someone "belong" to one Catholic church and yet bury their child through another Catholic church in their cemetery??
- I know that there have been people that joined other religions for protection.I know people immigrated to American to avoid the draft in Russia. But, did they also immigrate for religious safety??Did they change their religion??
Thanks.
