Hi Lisa,
What can I say but Thanks! Great lot of info, really helpful.
I would quite safely guess that the Cornelius who's a carpenter isn't mine, but the other one is. I'm sure he was in CT by 1894 as he became a Naturalised Citizen in '85. (He'd been sent off to 'make something of himself' by my g g grandfather before he'd allow Cornelius and Bridget to marry; Cornelius came back to Wales for her in 1890 and they both returned to CT).
Incredible coincidence that they lived a couple of doors away from your g grandparents - I wonder did they know one another? If they were of Irish Catholic descent like mine, they'd have probably gone to the same church too. Hey, maybe even our grandparents played together! I bet they did know each other, and here we are, two complete strangers on each side of the Atlantic, talking about them over 100 years later.....
Sorry, getting carried away! It's too late at night for my brain to deal with that sort of thing!
Not sure if the Catherine O'Keefe whose death record you found is the same one, but could be.... Can't thank you enough for your help and the work you've put in on my behalf. Although my family history (direct line that is) in the USA lasted for less than 20 years, it's quite fascinating, especially when I discovered there'd been another marriage after Bridget that we never knew about! It would just make my day to hear about/from any of the descendants of Katy's family.
Thanks again for your help. This forum rocks!
