William Tubbs, b. about 1617, Sutton, Isle of Ely, Cambridge, England.Came to Mass. and settled in Plymouth and Duxbury.Brought suit against John Barnes in 1635.A Freeman on Feb. 7, 1637.Volunteer in the Pequot War in 1637.He married Mercy Sprague on Nov. 9, 1637.She went to Rhode Island (where there was a settlement of religious dissenters) and he obtained a divorce from her on July 7, 1668.He died March 2, 1688.His will is dated Feb. 20, 1677 and was probated on June 13, 1688.His wife at that time was Dorothy --.Children were Samuel, William, Bethiah, Benjamin and Joseph.
