The Connecticut record sets described at the CT State Library website are indeed excellent. I have used the Barbour and Hale Collections, but this had research descriptions of all the other major record types. Thanks for the suggestion!
In addition, I've now asked local family to contact the local town hall and see what they can discover there. I've done this myself in New Milford, Litchfield Co, CT before... just had never tried for such "early records" before... so wondered if anyone had experience at the town level for record sets there.
Thanks again... will continue to work both the books / microfilms / manuscripts way... in addition to exploring local town interactions. Much easier to do after reading and understanding what record sets are out there!
