Thank you for your suggestion of using the spelling Hauley. I routinely check most common variations of Hawley. And indeed Hauley is a common variation of Hawley.

However, I do not believe that I have searched original records for the name of Abel Hauley b 1720 for marriage information. The majority of my information has come from the Hawley Record, by Elias S. Hawley and the Society of the Hawley Family thru Trudy Hawley, their volunteer genealogist.

Your source of New England Families by William Richard Cutter is not familiar to me and I shall also examine it for information.

Your response comes at a most opportune time in that this weekend Oct 13th -15th is the annual reunion of the Hawley Society in Farmington, CT. I shall be attending for the first time even though I have been a member since the 1970s.

Are you also a member and will you be attending? There appear to be a number of active members descended through Capt Jehiel Hawley.

Again, thanks for the lead.

Joseph W. Hawley
