I believe this Thomas was the father of my gggrandfather, Chauncey Webster who died in IL in 1848. The following information comes from the Gov. John Webster Genealogy. Thomas, born in Litchfield, CT. child of John [Deacon Benjamin, Deacon Jonathan, Robert, Gov. John] and Anna.
It is reported that he "purchased land of his father, John Webster, of Whitestown, N.Y., Oct. 29, 1795, in Taylor's Patent of 1792, divided into four lots, 50 acres of lot No. 3. Adjoining farms the same day were sold to Chauncey and Asa Webster" (his brothers).
The tradition in the family is that Thomas moved to Ohio, "and the last heard of him he had gone 700 miles further west."
Thomas and wife Anna Webster appear on the 1800 census of Oneida Co, NY with 1 son and 4 daughters born between 1790-1800. Could that son be my Chauncey Webster, born in CT between 1790 and 1800???
