Libby, I know the state Library in Hartford has some vital record indexes and records although I am not sure for exactly which years. Also there is no telling if he passed away in Hartford or not. It might be worth a try look at the years after 1870 in the vital records for the city and see if he is listed. You might have luck at the city hall. There are other resouces also available at the Library. You probably already have the information on Jeremiah and Hanorah and their children. I found information on them as having been buried in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Hartford Ct. Although they were actually listed in the Bloomfield Headstone Inscriptions. All of them are listed together so it is possible if the 78 year old Jeremiah was the father of the Jeremiah who married Hanora that he may have been listed in one of the surrounding towns of Hartford such as Bloomfield which is Hartford County. If he was the father of the younger Jeremiah, and you could find a newspaper obit for him then you might find information on the elder. Just a thought. In case you don't have the information I will list what I uncovered in the hopes it may add to your information. In the Hale Collection of Headstone Inscriptions book 103-1 Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery Hartford, Connecticut, page #208, Section C Murphy, Jeremiah, died April 18, 1896 Murphy, Hanorah, wife of Jere., died Sept. 15, 1890. Murphy, Michael P., son of Jere. & H., died Jan. 20,1915. Cavanaugh, Hanna, daughter of Jere. & H., died July 4, 1911. Murphy, Margaret, died July 10, 1925. If I can help again let me know.
