No it was a record in Vital Records for the town of Newton. I am sorry I didn't record the actual vol and page.etc. But it was a vital record from the town of Newton in the Birth section for the year 1856.
I did look for a birth for Thomas in 1859 in the same town but I did not see it. There were other Keatings in the town, but I don't know if they were related to your search.

I am not a professional researcher, but if there is something you might need looked up here in Connecticut, I can give it a try. It is a hobby I enjoy. Usually I would write down the source but I forgot.
