I am interested in contacting people with information on the family of George HAYS (sometimes HAY) and Ann Jane MALCOMSON. Both George and Ann were born in Northern Ireland and were married in NEW YORK CITY abt. 1849. George Hays was a soap-maker and chandler by trade and moved his family from NYC to HARTFORD, CT by 1865. George and Ann Hays had the following children:

Samuel b. 1854 NYC,
George, Jr. b. 1856 NYC, md. Ella CARLYLE 1886
James b. abt 1860 NYC,
William R. b. 1865 NYC, md. Elizabeth O’BRIEN
Robert L. b. abt. 1866 Hartford,
Mary E. b. abt. 1868 Hartford,
Thomas d. abt 1871 Hartford.

George’s sons all worked at the old Pratt & Whitney Machinists and Iron Foundry on Flower Street in Hartford from the 1870’s to about 1900.

George Hays Jr. and Ella CARLYLE had children:

Helen b. 1887 md. Frank KRAMER
Marion b. 1889
George III b. 1890 md.Jessie CLEELAND
Edith b. 1894
Alice b. 1896 md. Fred M. KERN
Elizabeth b. aft. 1897.

George Hays , JR. apparently moved his family to BOSTON, MA about 1901.

George Hays III married Jessie CLEELAND and may have moved to LYNCHBURG, VA.

I have information to share on other branches of this family in America and their origins in Ireland. Any information on these Hays would be greatly appreciated.
