I am working a line that has been extremely difficult and hoping some one might be able to give me various names that could fit in with this one females maiden name. The surname is Laveof or any thing that might be similar. I picked this up from the copy of a death certificate from George Fredrick Teeter born Jan 1879 in Hartford, exact area unknown, death for George was Oct 1947 Bridgeport. On the D.C. it list his father as a George Teeter birth place as Bridgeport, then crossed out, and mother as Ella Laveof of Union Vill or Village which I was told had several mills in the area. I googled the surname Laveof and the only results that I got returned was a porno site. Out of the 5 children born to this union, 4 younger children were placed in the Gilbert School or orphanage in Litchfield Co. about 1888. George was not placed so I suspect he was considered to old at the time or his mother might have kept him with her. Since I have never been able to find the first George Teeter or a Ella Laveof Tetter that I thought would be in the right age group and using the first and last d.o.b's for the children I take for granite that the father had died and mother was unable to care for the children. I've looked for days at the census for the Manchester area and most of the copy is to poor to be able to read, I suspect they ran out of ink. I also have copies for three of the other children with no information on them as far as mother being unknown and father as George Teeter, or George Teator. On one DC it has father as William Clark, and mother unknown. I have copies of all of the obits for each child and nothing is mentioned for parents on any obit. My Aunt visited the Gilbert School in the early 60's, at this time the lady at the school went into the attic and brought down a large black ledger book and told my Aunt that 4 children had been placed but the infant boy had died while at the school. She would not give her any information as far as parents or when they were placed or released. At this time all of the children that were in the School had died. I have called the Gilbert school and they have one ledger book but none of the children are listed, so I suspect that the first one has vanished. They were extremely helpful and she said she would keep my name and number if another ledger ever turn up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated with this name of Laveof.
