I am searching for documentation of John W. Burgess' birth record in Redding, Fairfield County, CT. Possible parents: Austin Burgess and Chloe Barley both possibly from New York.

I submitted a Genealogical Index Search Request to the History and Genealogy Unit, Connecticut State Library which was unsuccessful.

After 1830 the family is in Ypsilant, Michigan. After 1850 John W. Burgess is located in Northern California.

John W. Burgess (may be of Irish ancestry) does not appear to fit with any descendants of the early(1630)English Burgess settlers of Nova Scotia.
