Land Records, post Danbury Raid

I was looking at a tape yesterday of Land Records for Danbury. It seems that about a year after the British went through in 1777, the town re-surveyed the properties, I'm assuming this was due to the loss of most of the records before that time?

If anyone has insite on this I would love to know!
