Bridgeport Catholic Orphanage

My great-great Grandfather immigrated to Bridgeport as a boy sometime between 1865 and 1867 and lived in a Catholic orphanage for several years along with his brother.

Is anyone familiar with an orphanage that may have existed at that time period? I am of course seeking records that may exist...suspiciously enough he was not listed in any census in 1870.
