The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, February 13, 1908

WM. TAYLOR was born at West Port, Conn., Dec. 17, 1818, and died at the home
of his daughter, MRS. RIKER, Russell, Iowa, Feby 8, 1908, at the age of 89
years, 1 month and 21 days.

When 7 years of age, he with is father's family, moved to Victory, N.Y. In
early life he learned the blacksmith's trade and for 55 years conducted the
business in one shop at Victory, N.Y. In 1850 he was married to MARILLA
NORTHUP. He raised a family of nine children, seven of whom are left to
mourn his loss -- four sons and three daughters.

When in Victory, N.Y., he united with the Methodist Church in the early 60s.
Since then he has lived in full and complete possession of his faith in
Christ as his Savior. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30
at the home, conducted by D.J. Shenton. The body was taken east on No. 4
for burial at Victory, N.Y.
