1860s Marriage Record
Posted by: Candice Toth (ID *****6013) Date: September 05, 2002 at 19:21:34

My gggrandparents, Mary J. Fisher and Noah D. Joyce were living in Norwalk, CT in 1880. I recently found out that they were married in Port Chester, NY in Jan 1869. (It appears that Mary's parents, Amanda Holmes and Wm. Fisher lived in Port Chester.) On Noah and Mary's marriage return it indicated that this was Noah's second marriage. His age is listed as 23 (Mary's is listed as 18).
Since Noah was born in Norwalk and his residence in 1869 was listed as Norwalk - I'm assuming that his first marriage may have taken place in Norwalk. So this is what I am in search of.....information on Noah's first marriage. Noah's parents were Harriet Nash and Horace Joyce/Joice. Seeing that Noah was only 23 at the time of his second marriage, I would think that his first marriage would have been in aprox. 1864 - 1868.
I'm also interested in finding a birth record for Noah -abt. 1846. (Although in the 1880 census, Noah was listed as being 39 - which would make his birthyear abt. 1841.)
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

Candice
