My Cruzan line goes like this:
Ben H., b. 1813 KY, md Minerva French 1857 in Edgar Co, IL; d. ca 1895 in Marshall Co IN
His father was Benjamin Cruzan, b 1790 in KY, md Sarah McMichael 1810 Adams Co OH; d. 1866 Marshall Co IN
His father was Benjamin Cruzan, b. ca 1758 in Holland/VA/DEL, md Jane DeVault, d. 1848 Ripley Co. IN
I don't know if your John is his father or not, but my Cruzans were in Mason Co KY & Scott Co IN is close to Ripley & Rush Co IN. They were probably relatives of some sort.
