Hafa Adai! My maiden name is Helen Santos Torres, born at Agat, Guam. I am researching the Cruz and Santos on my mother's side. Her maiden name was Juana Cruz Santos. Her parents were Roque Santos Santos and Maria Cruz Santos, also, of Agat. My father's name was Vicente Palomo Torres. My parents passed away on separate years and were both laid to rest at San Jose, CA., where most of my immediate family members currently reside. However, two have relocated back on Guam. So, my root and heart still reside on Guam even though I am in Winslow, AZ.. My husband's name is Ed Higdon, but that's another genealogical story.
I recall my grandmother's family being referred to with the clan name of "gootgohu". From my experience on Guam, the Cruz's name is as common as the Jones'.
