Hi Douglas,
I know that Crews and Cruse names were interchanged in many documents. I found a will on line that names my grandfather(Harrison Cruse) as exec. of will. It was listed under the family tree search. He died Nov. 27, 1847. Lydia Cruse is listed on the Census in 1870 living in Oregon County, Piney Township. I also found David Cruse on the 1830 census in Howard County, Unknown Townships. In 1840 a David Van Cruse is listed in the 1840 Census living in Buren County, Osage Township. (I am not sure if it is the same David as in 1830. Thomas Cruse is list in the 1830 census in Boone County , Missouri Township. Archbald Crews shows up in the 1870 census in Charition County, Salisbury Twp. His brother listed as Hary Cruse is also in the 1870 census with wife Nancy and children: Durico and John (They have to be from another marriage Nancy was too young to be the mother) Nancy's children: Ellen, Isaac and Joseph. There are too many Thomas Cruses' to figure out which one is my Great-Uncle. I went to Jefferson, Mo and found a great many Crews wills which interchanged with Cruse. It is a puzzle. If you can help it would be great. However, our name is CRUSE.
