I am researching the CRUSE family from Chailey, Lewes and surorunding areas. If you are too, or they are related to your family, I'd love to hear from you.
My earliest find is Richard CRUSE born around 1793 in Chailey. He married Mary MITCHELL born 1795 in Fletching, Sussex. Mary's father is Thomas MITCHELL born 1766 and Mother was Sarah BOTTING born 1768 at Fletching.
Richard and Mary's family comprises Maria born 1816 Chailey, Henry born 1819 Chailey - who married Charlotte, Thomas 1822 - who married Ann, William 1826 - who married Eliza Smith, Maria 1828-54, Richard born 1832- married Mary - their family migrates to Shoreham, Sussex,
Naomi 1833-49, Elizabeth 1836 and finally Ann born 1839.
William and Eliza's family starts quickly with Naomi born 1850 at Chailey - married James PATCHING and I have details of their family if anyone interested, Lucy born 1853 married David COOKE and is my main interest - full details if required, William born 1854 (died between 1885 and 1891)-married Elizabeth and had sons. More of William and Eliza's children are Henry, 1857, Elizabeth Ann 1859, Sarah 1859,John 1862 abd Alfred 1871.
