Crumpler.org Website
I suppose folks who like to trace their ancestors also like to solve mysteries.
I haven't been able to find out what became of the wonderful Crumpler.org website. It was described on its first page:
"This site is owned by a group of Crumpler descendants who have joined resources to provide a common place for all genealogists who are researching or interested in the Crumpler surname and all related lines. This home page will be the starting point from which you can access different web pages owned by members of our group.
"We all have met through the Internet and share our common search for our ancestors and the rich heritage of the Crumpler families throughout the world. If you join the Crumpler mailing list you can send your query or message to all of this site's owners at once, plus close to 100 Crumpler researchers."
Alas, the mailing list seems to be gone. And as most of the people on the Crumpler.org website had @crumpler.org e-mail addresses --- the e-mail addresses don't work either.
I've licensed the name Crumpler-family.com and have posted a simple one page site there. We have an archival copy of most of the information from the old Crumpler.org website, but I hate to post this material at Crumpler-family.com because I'm not sure who "owns" the copyright to this material.
Our own website contains the information about many Crumplers --- some researched by us, and others from GEDCOM files downloaded/uploaded with permission.
There is a link at www.crumpler-family.com that brings you to all of the Crumplers on our website. It is possible to suggest changes, add information, etc., on our website by simply clicking the "Suggest" button on the top of each person's web page.
If any of the former sponsors of the Crumpler.org website are still around and would like the information re-posted to the internet, I am glad to host this for free (we have our own dedicated webserver). Please don't hesitate to get in touch.
It just seems such a shame that this great website --- with its effort to consolidate information from different researchers with a common interest --- has vanished.
Thanks,
Craig
