Sheri,
I believe that Rolla is the son of William and Elizabeth Rodney Crumpler of Morgan County, IL.William's obituary is posted online at the Morgan County genweb site under the Civil War veterans' obituaries. It lists William's birthdate and place and includes as survivors his children Rolla "of New Holland" in 1924 (not far from Middletown) and Theresa Wells, a brother L.H. (I think this is Lewis H.) and a half-sister Alice Clayton of Hazen, Arkansas.
The online index to IL marriages lists:
W. T. Crumpler to L. A. Rodney Greene Co., March 17, 1872
Lewis H. Crumpler to Martha J. Rodney, Morgan Co., Feb. 29, 1872
Rolla R. Crumples to Mary Zimmerman, Logan Co., Nov. 9, 1899
Theresa Crumpler to W. L. Wells, Mason Co., Nov. 24, 1897.
I am not related to this family directly, but I was searching for information on a Hulda Crumpler who may be a sister to William. She married Clark Herron/Herrin/Herring in 1853.Other potential siblings for this family include a Lucy who wed David Hobaker in 1860, a Nancy, and an Elizabeth who was blind. The mother is Sarah Malissa Crumpler who married Isaac Wade in Morgan Co. in 1855.The address for the Morgan County genweb site is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmorgan/morgan.htmhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmorgan/morgan.htm
