Hello,
I am following up on research my father had been doing for well over 20 years, before he died in January, 1999. He had been working on Crump (Crompe), McGuire and Tolbert, lines of which are related.

He had Thomas as coming over on a ship called the Bony Bess, from England. It also seems that he was a Sergeant. He married an Elizabeth Buck(e) daughter of Rev. Buck.

What I am interested in is the birthplace of Thomas and his date of birth, which was before 1600, I believe. There was a Thomas Crompe christened on the 28th of December, 1599 at Feckenham, Worchestershire, England.

Croome or Crompe was a habitation name in Worchestershire, so called from an old English river name.

My father got his information from the Saint Peter's Parish Register and Vestry Book of New Kent County (1680-1787) and the book "The Planters of Colonial Virginia", which has the "Quit Rent Rolls" of 1704.

Can you confirm this information I have?

Thanks
