The secret to the early Crumps is in a patent dated 1654 in James City Co., Va. to John Crum[ for 1250 acres of land in James City Co. by "Mr. Batt's Landing on a main branch of the Gleeb land creek; 750 acres granted to Richard Buck 1619 and 500 acres granted to Peleg Buck 29 May 1638 and descended unto said Crump by inheritance and 250 a for the transportation of 5 person." Nugent.
