John Crump - Custer's 7th Cavalry

I found a John Crump on the muster roll of Custer's 7th Cavalry. He was a Blacksmith in Company B, and fortunately for him, was with the pack train during the "Last Stand" in 1876.

Does anyone have more information on him?

My information shows a John G. Crump b 1850, son of Hillyard Crump and Samantha Griggs, but no known connection to the 7th Cavalry.
