My Great-grandfather was named Flemming Crump. He was born May 12, 1820 in KY or VA, son of Kalup or Calup Crump (slave owner)and Delphine Burch. He fought for the south during the Civil War and while a battle was going on he saw family and/or friends fighting for the north. Not wanting to kill them, he hid in a large fallen tree, and when the battle was over came north to St. Louis, MO. He married Margaret Garcia born in 1859, daughter of Emiro LeMaso Garcia and Elizabeth Moushey. The had two sons and three daughters. He died in May 1885. Margaret did not want to marry Flemming because of the age difference 39 yrs. She then married Art Bouvett and lived happily with him. She died in the 1920's. My mother remembered her and I have pictures of them. I would like to find someone with information on Flemming's birthplace and parents.
Thank you, Kathleen
