There is some pretty good evidence that this man is the last CSA soldier. It appears all others who claimed to have been CSA soliders and who died after this man were fakers who aged suddenly after the southern states started giving pensions. This according to checks of various census records.

This then would make Pvt. Albert Woolson, Dummer, 1st MN Heavy Arty. who died 1956, the last Union soldier and the last Civil War soldier.
