In regard to your posting concerning Lancaster County and York County, cut and pasted below, Lancaster County was once a part of York County. Lancaster County, Va. was formed in 1651 from both Northumberland and York Counties. Today's maps of counties within Virginia has little relevance in comparison to the Virginia counties of the 17th Century.
