Well I appreciate your help thus far, just to note I did look in the 1850 Census (working on 186 now) but so far I've seen Josiah Crump but haven't found Mezzie with a Crump yet. I have looked for a marriage record in Saline Co. (where she last lived) but no go... unlike you I have nothing but a last name to go on (don't know any bros or sis of Mezzie even) - the records from that era are hard to come by especially if you don't know where they are even from - I have no family bible etc., I have done research (or tried), I thought you might be willing to share (as I would do with my family) but I see what you posted is what I get.. not that I don't appreciate it but as you said you have your research to do... sorry to have "bothered" you, sheesh.
