Hello Brad,
Well, you first need to find out where your
ancestors came from, and I suspect the same place as mine. If your earliest ancestor's name was Daniel son of Daniel the Old who came to Virginia in 1715 (the fifteen), then
you're from Kilmarnock Ayrshire from the best of my knowledge. Then if that is true, your tartan would be the one worn by the Clan
Donald of the Isles. The spellings changed once they came here. Originally in Scotland it was (from what I can find) Croom. With an E on the end it puts the family on the east coast under Clan Gordon. We have no clan ourselves, just a sept of larger one.
It is very hard to pin down with proof. Good luck. If ya get it wrong your ancestors will come back an hoont ya.
