Your Napoleon is certainly an enigma-
Per 1900 (b Mar 1856)census in Ellis Co you are correct-
Per 1910 (b abt 1854)census in Dallas Co - he claimed he was born in TX and his parents both were born in KY
In 1920 and 1930Tillie/Tilly was with her daughter aand son-in-law Jim T./Thomas J. Martin and Beulah E. Crumley Martin in Dallas Co
Napoleon and Tilly/Tillie/Matilda in 1920 - who was really Flotilla - are both buried in Derris, Ellis Co., TX in Park Cemetery
Cemetery Survey says:
3-27-3 Flotilla Crumley 1861-1956 w/o Napoleon
3-27-2 Napoleon Crumley 1855 - 1917 h/o Flotilla
Checked the Texas Death Index 1903-1940 (on microfilm- Ancestry wasn't working at the library this morning)- could not locate Napoleon under any Cr - name
Now Harry Gardner Crumley is also buried in Park Cemetery along with his wife-
Per his death certificate his parents were W. Crumley and Flotilla Goff - informant was his wife - I would assume she knew her in-laws - but maybe not.
If you try to back him up the ONLY one close I could locate was Napoleon born in Mississippi - who knows what date
In 1880 he was enumerated twice once in Bosque Co., TX with what appears to be his parents Bird/Byrd Chumbley and Rebecca [1880]/Chumney[1860]/Chamley{1870]- both parents were b TN in 1880 - 1870 he b TN she b NC - 1860 both b TN
Then he was also in Erath Co - boarding - he was listed as a Saloon Keeper
Not sure if any of this helps or just muddies the water for you more-
Flotilla had an obit in the Dallas morning news but didn't give any details about her husband - survived by one son - Otto - three daughters - Florence Stepp; Mrs Beulah Martin; Mrs Virginia Thompson - all of Dallas
